VanVed vs Zoho Inventory
for Inventory
Why businesses choose VanVed over Zoho Inventory
VanVed's stock ledger is append-only and every number — on-hand, FIFO cost, COGS, expiring batches — is recomputed from it rather than stored twice, so the books cannot quietly drift. Locations and users are unlimited at any price point, where Zoho meters warehouses, orders and seats per tier, and batch/expiry tracking is in the box rather than a $79/month upgrade.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Zoho Inventory |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-warehouse stock + transfers | Unlimited locations, atomic paired transfers | Warehouse count capped by plan (2 on Standard, 10 on Enterprise) |
| Batch / lot tracking with expiry | Batch + expiry on receipt, FEFO consumption, expiring-batches report | Batch tracking with expiry, from the Professional plan up |
| Serial number tracking | Not built — no serial field anywhere in inventory | Per-unit serial numbers with full movement history |
| Stock valuation | FIFO/FEFO layers recomputed from the ledger; COGS report; org-wide value on the dashboard | FIFO and weighted average, tied into Zoho Books accounting |
| Purchase orders and goods receipt | PO with lines, partial receipt, auto status, cost becomes the FIFO layer | PO, receipt, vendor bill and payment in one chain |
| Reorder points and low-stock alerts | Per-item reorder level, low-stock list, suggested quantities, dashboard alert — no email or push | Reorder points with email alerts and auto-generated purchase orders |
| Barcode scanning on a phone | Flutter app scans a barcode/QR to look an item up — read-only, no scan-to-receive or scan-to-count | Barcode generation and scan-driven picking/packing on higher plans |
| Sales-channel and shipping integrations | None — stock is driven by VanVed's own POS and marketplace orders | Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy plus 30+ shipping carriers with live rates |
| Cost of the module | Included in the platform subscription, unlimited users and orders | Order-volume and user caps per tier; batch tracking needs the $79/mo Professional plan |
Where Zoho Inventory is ahead of us today
Zoho Inventory tracks individual serial numbers; VanVed has no serial field at all, so anything tracked per unit — an appliance, a device, a warranty claim — cannot be traced. Zoho also turns reorder points into emails and draft purchase orders automatically, while VanVed only shows a low-stock list on screen. And Zoho plugs straight into Amazon, Shopify and 30+ shipping carriers, which VanVed does not do at all.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Zoho Inventory may well be the better buy.
