VanVed vs Mailchimp
for Marketing
Why businesses choose VanVed over Mailchimp
VanVed sends on your own mail provider, so there is no contact ceiling, no monthly send quota and no per-contact pricing tier to climb — and the delivery reporting is unusually honest, with one row per recipient carrying the provider's own error text, so you can name the addresses that failed instead of reading 'some bounced'. Mailchimp's free plan is now 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, and its SMS channel does not reach Indian numbers at all.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Mailchimp |
|---|---|---|
| Campaigns actually send | Yes — through your organization's own SMTP credentials, with a per-recipient record of what the server accepted or refused | Yes, on Mailchimp's own sending infrastructure |
| Open and click tracking | Yes — a real pixel and click redirect, counting unique recipients at campaign level and every hit per recipient | Yes, on all plans |
| Contact and send limits | No contact ceiling and no send quota — you are sending on your own mail provider | Free is 250 contacts and 500 emails a month; paid tiers are priced by contact count |
| Segmentation | Dynamic segments, but only on two conditions: carries a tag, or joined after a date | Behavioural and multi-condition segments; predictive segmentation on Premium |
| Unsubscribe link | Every campaign carries an opt-out link that really deactivates that subscriber — but no List-Unsubscribe header, so no native unsubscribe button appears in Gmail or Outlook | Required and handled automatically, with preference centres |
| Automated journeys | No journey builder — a campaign is a single send to a list | Multi-step flows with branching: 4 steps on Essentials, up to 200 on Standard |
| A/B testing and send-time optimisation | Neither | A/B from Essentials, multivariate and AI send-time optimisation on Standard |
| Landing pages and signup forms | No landing page and no signup form — a list can be bulk-loaded from a CSV, but nothing captures a subscriber on its own | Landing pages, embedded and pop-up forms on every plan including Free |
| SMS to Indian numbers | Not offered | Not available — Mailchimp SMS does not cover India at all |
Where Mailchimp is ahead of us today
Mailchimp is a marketing platform and ours is a mailing tool. The compliance floor is now met — every campaign carries a working opt-out link — but only the floor: we send no List-Unsubscribe header, so mail clients cannot offer their own one-click unsubscribe and there is no preference centre. Beyond that it has multi-step journeys with branching, A/B and multivariate testing, AI-chosen send times, landing pages and signup forms that grow the list on their own, and segmentation that reads behaviour rather than our two conditions. Our own scheduling exists in the backend but has no field in the UI to set it from, and a send runs inline in the web request, so a large list will time out.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Mailchimp may well be the better buy.
