VanVed vs Fedena
for School
Why businesses choose VanVed over Fedena
VanVed's fee run creates real invoices in the same billing ledger the rest of the business uses, so school fees are not a separate island of money, and its WhatsApp reminders are genuine Cloud API sends that record the provider's own answer rather than assuming success. The timetable actively refuses to put one teacher in two rooms, and the same tenant can run CRM, payroll, inventory and POS beside the school.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Fedena |
|---|---|---|
| Students, classes, sections, enrolment | Academic years, classes, sections with a class teacher and capacity, per-year roll numbers, and one-click bulk promotion into next year's section | Student information plus admission enquiry and registration modules |
| Fee structure and invoicing | Per-class, per-year fee heads generate real invoices for a whole section in one call, and re-running never double-bills a student | Advance fees, instant fees, fee import |
| Online fee payment by the parent | Yes — a fee invoice carries a public pay link that takes UPI and cards through Razorpay. One payment per invoice, so no part payment, and it is confirmed only by the browser returning from checkout | Built-in payment gateway integration |
| Timetable | Period-level timetable that refuses to double-book a teacher across any section in the school | Timetable plus an automatic timetable generator |
| Exams and report cards | Exams, per-subject max and passing marks, a marks grid, and a report card graded from the school's own configurable bands — ungraded subjects never silently count as zero | Examination, gradebook, online examination, certificate generator |
| WhatsApp to guardians | Absence alerts and fee-due reminders over the real WhatsApp Cloud API, each sent at most once and recording the provider's own verdict | SMS and email only — WhatsApp is not listed as a feature |
| Transport, hostel, library, alumni | None of the four exist | Transport with GPS route tracking, hostel, barcode library, alumni |
| Parent mobile app | No. Guardians use a read-only web summary of attendance, marks and fees due | Parent mobile app, from the Premium tier up |
| Runs the rest of the institution | The same tenant also gets CRM, billing, HR and payroll, inventory, POS, helpdesk and marketing as first-class modules, switchable per tenant | HR and payroll plus 39 add-on modules, but course selling, POS and helpdesk are outside the product |
Where Fedena is ahead of us today
Fedena is a fifteen-year-old school ERP and it shows in breadth. Transport with GPS bus tracking, hostel, a barcode library and alumni all exist there and none of them exist in VanVed. An admission enquiry pipeline now does, but staff-entered only — there is no public form a parent can fill in. Fees can now be paid online through Razorpay, though guardians still have no app and see a read-only web page. Fedena also generates a timetable for you rather than only validating the one you type.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Fedena may well be the better buy.
