VanVed vs Zoho People
for Attendance
Why businesses choose VanVed over Zoho People
Zoho People's attendance is good, but it is deliberately gated: nothing — not geo-restriction, not biometric devices, not regularisation, not overtime — exists below the Professional tier, and it cannot run Indian payroll at all, so the attendance you capture has to be handed to a second Zoho subscription to become a salary. In VanVed, attendance, the roster, leave and payroll are the same application and the same database, so paid days, overtime and approved leave reach the payslip without an integration, and attendance can be kept for people who are not employees at all.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Zoho People |
|---|---|---|
| Geo-restricted check-in | Yes — branch coordinates and radius, distance measured server-side, and the error tells you how far outside you are | Yes, plus IP restriction — from the Professional tier up |
| Face recognition / kiosk check-in | None | Yes — facial recognition and a kiosk app |
| Biometric terminal integration | Yes — a push endpoint any terminal can post to, authenticated per device and idempotent on retry | Yes — from Professional up |
| Regularisation requests | Yes, and approving one writes the corrected attendance record | Yes — from Professional up |
| Shift rotation and patterns | Rosters are built by copying a week forward; there are no rotation patterns and no auto-assignment | Shift rotation, patterns and reminders — from Professional up |
| Attendance reports and exports | No report and no export — the records list does now filter server-side by date, employee, branch and status, but nothing comes out of it | Standard reports on every tier; custom reports from Premium |
| Indian statutory payroll off the same attendance | Yes — the same product prices the days into PF, ESI and PT | No — Zoho People has no Indian payroll; that is Zoho Payroll, a separate subscription |
| Cost of getting attendance at all | A module the tenant switches on | Nothing on Free or Essential HR — attendance starts at the Professional tier |
| Timesheets against projects and clients | A separate projects module; not wired to attendance punches | Yes, with billing and invoicing links |
Where Zoho People is ahead of us today
Zoho People has face recognition and a kiosk, shift rotation patterns, and reporting on every plan. VanVed has none of those: no photo is captured on any check-in, rosters are copied forward rather than rotated, and there is no attendance report or export anywhere in the product. Zoho also has real timesheets against projects and clients; VanVed's projects module never sees an attendance punch.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Zoho People may well be the better buy.
What VanVed's Attendance module does
- Check-in / check-out
Records arrival and departure, with duration computed automatically.
- Late detection
Flags a late arrival against the expected shift or class time.
- Respects approved leave
A day covered by approved leave is not marked absent.
