VanVed vs Zoho Books
for Finance
Why businesses choose VanVed over Zoho Books
The ledger is genuinely strict: a posted entry cannot be edited or deleted anywhere in the codebase, only reversed by an equal-and-opposite entry, and every auto-post is idempotent on (source, source id) and now fires automatically on invoice creation, not on a manual click. And because finance, billing, POS, payroll and CRM are one Django project on one database, a till sale becomes a journal line without an export, an import or a connector fee.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Zoho Books |
|---|---|---|
| Double-entry ledger, Trial Balance / P&L / Balance Sheet | Yes — real balanced journal, immutable once posted | Yes |
| Posted entries are immutable, undone only by reversal | Enforced in the model, not just the UI | Yes |
| GSTR-1 / GSTR-3B | Download-and-upload export (b2b/b2cs/HSN JSON) | Files directly — Zoho is a licensed GSP |
| E-invoicing (IRN + QR) and e-way bills | Not built | Yes, IRN then linked e-way bill |
| Bank feeds and reconciliation | CSV import of bank statement lines with auto-match suggestions against ledger entries, manual confirm, and a reconciliation summary — no live bank feed | Bank feeds plus rule-based matching |
| TDS / TCS on transactions | TDS tracking on payments and expenses — section, rate, computed amount, and payable/receivable summary reports; no TCS and no return filing | Yes |
| Sales, POS takings and payroll reach the ledger | Automatic now — a signal posts an invoice to the ledger on creation, no manual posting step; till sales and payroll still post in one click | Automatic, but only for data inside Zoho apps |
| Books share a database with CRM, HR, POS and inventory | One login, one DB, no connector | Separate apps joined by Zoho One |
| Multi-currency | INR only — no currency field on an invoice | Yes, with auto exchange rates |
Where Zoho Books is ahead of us today
Zoho Books is a licensed GSP and VanVed is not. It files GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for you, generates IRNs and e-way bills, reconciles purchases against GSTR-2B, and pulls bank statements in through a live feed. VanVed gives you a GSTR-1/3B export to upload yourself, still has no e-invoicing and no e-way bill, and its bank reconciliation is CSV-import-based rather than a live feed. TDS tracking now exists on payments and expenses, but there is no TCS and no return filing. A business over the e-invoicing threshold cannot run on VanVed's books alone.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Zoho Books may well be the better buy.
