VanVed vs Townscript
for Events
Why businesses choose VanVed over Townscript
For an event run at your own customers — a members' workshop, a clinic, a class — this wins on the join: the attendee is already a CRM contact and a membership, a ticket can now be paid for with UPI or card, custom questions capture whatever the organiser actually needs to know, the waitlist promotes itself, and there is no per-ticket cut. Check-in needs no app install on the door staff's phone.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Townscript |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per paid ticket | No per-ticket fee — the module is part of the platform subscription | Free for free events; roughly 3% plus a flat amount, plus gateway and GST, on paid ones |
| Collecting the ticket money | Yes now — UPI, card and netbanking collection on the ticket through Razorpay; payouts follow the platform's own settlement, not a guaranteed daily payout | UPI, cards and netbanking, with daily payouts to an Indian bank account |
| Registration form | Custom questions now — organisers add their own registration questions per event, shown on the public form and the registration detail page, on top of name, email, phone and quantity | A custom registration form builder |
| Door check-in | A browser QR scanner that needs no install, falling back to manual code entry on iOS Safari | An organiser app on iOS and Android with QR check-in |
| Waitlist with automatic promotion | Yes — capacity-aware, promoting the earliest waitlisted registration on a cancellation | Not documented on the product's own pages |
| Discount and promo codes | Flat or percent, org-wide or per-event, with validity and use limits | Ticket categories with discount codes |
| Notifying attendees | A confirmation email with the registration code, sent on the tenant's own mail provider — nothing after that, and no SMS or WhatsApp anywhere in the module | Automated email notifications |
| Being found by strangers | None — the event appears only on the tenant's own site | A public discovery listing, backed by BookMyShow |
| Attendee record joining the business | Auto-matched to the CRM contact and membership behind that email | Ticketing only — export and re-import to your own CRM |
Where Townscript is ahead of us today
Townscript still has the edge on reach and payout mechanics. It pays the organiser's Indian bank account daily, guaranteed; VanVed follows the platform's own settlement cadence rather than a guaranteed daily payout. It emails attendees throughout an event's lifecycle; this module sends one confirmation and nothing else. And it puts events in front of an audience the organiser does not already have — VanVed's events are only found on the tenant's own site.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Townscript may well be the better buy.
