VanVed vs Squarespace
for Website builder
Why businesses choose VanVed over Squarespace
The site is the public face of a business already running its CRM, billing, bookings and helpdesk on the same records — a contact submission is a lead, not an email to re-key. And it costs nothing extra, where Squarespace has no free tier at all.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Squarespace |
|---|---|---|
| Editing model | A fixed section library with reordering — no freeform canvas | Fluid Engine, a freeform drag-and-drop grid |
| Entry cost | No separate website charge and no trial clock | No free plan — a 14-day trial, then $19 to $99 a month |
| Design quality without a designer | Six presets chosen so a tenant cannot produce something illegible | The strongest template library in the category |
| Domain and certificate | Requested in-app, then provisioned by hand by platform staff | Free domain with annual billing and automatic SSL |
| Blog and long-form content | None | Blog, galleries and podcasting built in |
| Per-page SEO panel | Meta description only — the sitemap and robots.txt are generated, but there is no title, no OG tag and no panel | Full SEO panel with title, description, OG tags and an auto sitemap |
| Mobile layout control | Sections are responsive, but there is no mobile-specific editor or device preview toggle | A separate mobile layout inside Fluid Engine |
| Bookings, memberships and invoicing behind the site | Already modules of the same platform, sharing one customer record | Acuity scheduling, member areas and courses, on higher tiers |
| Lead capture into a CRM | The contact section creates a CRM lead in the same database | Forms deliver to email or a connected third-party tool |
Where Squarespace is ahead of us today
Squarespace wins on the thing it is for. Fluid Engine gives real layout control with a separate mobile layout; this has ten fixed sections, no device preview, no blog, and a single meta description standing in for an SEO panel. Their domain and certificate are automatic; here a human provisions TLS.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Squarespace may well be the better buy.
