VanVed vs Mindbody
for Membership
Why businesses choose VanVed over Mindbody
VanVed publishes one price with no per-location multiplier, no 24-month contract and no commission on a member's first purchase. Its plan model is more flexible than Mindbody's in one real way — time and credits can live on a single plan — and its freeze accounting gives back exactly the days a member lost. The status a member sees is recomputed from dates every time it is asked, so nothing depends on a nightly job having run.
Capability by capability
Every row below is what our 2026 research found — including the rows we lose.
| Capability | VanVed | Mindbody |
|---|---|---|
| Plan shapes | A plan can sell time, a number of visits, or both at once — three months capped at twenty classes is a single plan | Memberships, contracts and class packs, as separate constructs |
| Freeze and hold | Freeze and resume with frozen days counted and the end date pushed out, so a member never loses paid time | Supported |
| Renewal | A renewal creates a new period linked back to the old one and raises a real invoice, so the history stays traceable | Autopay against a stored card |
| Automatic recurring charge and dunning | No. Renewal is an explicit action that bills an invoice; there is no stored mandate and no retry on a failed payment | Autopay with stored cards and failed-payment handling |
| Class booking against a membership | A class check-in now spends a credit from the member's plan and is refused when the plan is out of credits or expired — but only where the registration was matched to a membership, and nothing is credited back afterwards | Class booking, waitlists and Client Pick-a-Spot tied to the membership |
| Family and corporate memberships | Not modelled — a membership belongs to exactly one member | Family accounts supported |
| Door and access control | None. There is QR and kiosk check-in, but nothing unlocks a door | Real-time door access through Kisi, Brivo and Gym Access partners |
| Branded member app | No mobile app for this module | Branded app available as a paid add-on, price undisclosed |
| What it costs and what you sign | ₹1,499/month ex-GST published, no per-location multiplier, no marketplace commission | $99/month per location is the only published figure; three of four tiers are quote-only, contracts commonly run 24 months, and a marketplace booking costs 20% of a new client's first purchase |
Where Mindbody is ahead of us today
Mindbody is the operating system of a studio and VanVed's membership module is a plan ledger. Autopay against a stored card, family accounts, door access through Kisi or Brivo and a branded member app are all real there and absent here — though a class check-in does now draw down a credit plan, which it never used to. The one that costs tenants money every month is autopay: VanVed has no stored mandate, so every renewal is a manual action and a failed payment is nobody's job. Mindbody's AI Concierge also turns missed calls into bookings, which has no counterpart here.
We publish this because a comparison that only flatters us is worth nothing to you. If one of these gaps is the thing you actually need, Mindbody may well be the better buy.
